Meet Herman

This is Herman. Say hi Herman. Herman is a Peace Lily. We got Herman last year. My brother-in-law passed away on New Year's Eve and one of the Big Guy's cousins sent us Herman. I do not have a green thumb but I knew if the plant didn't survive my husband would be upset. So I sort of obsessed over how to keep the thing alive. My little one named it. I have no clue how she came up with Herman!

Herman has grown so much this last year that he needs a new pot. I actually bought one on Tuesday but haven't had a chance to re-pot him yet. When we were in the store on Tuesday looking at pots the Big Guy said, "You can get rid of that plant now, if you want." Get rid of the plant!! Are you crazy, the kids love the plant. The plant has a name!! We can't get rid of the plant, shut up, do you like this pot?

I'll have to add a Herman category so I can show Herman's progress! Herman gets pretty little blooms, too. So this is Herman, the fifth member of my family.

Say Good-bye, Herman.

Awww Herman! I collect plants. Or I collected plants when I had time and money. At one point? I had 450 house plants. Sometimes I laugh and call myself crazy plant lady. I think I only have 40 or so now, I'd have to count. About 20 are indoor-outdoor-- they go outside in the summer and come in in the cold months. I like peace lilies. They have a simple joy to them and are rather easy. Easy, by the way, means nothing except for the fact that they readily accept the home environment, which is a slow, painful death-trap to most plants. But peace lilies can do well! And thrive.
