Election Day

I like to vote. I like to have my little say in who gets to run our government. I always make time to vote.

I am neither Republican nor Democrat. I vote across party lines for who I feel is the best candidate. Or the least idiotic.

Today I get to cast a ballot again.

For the first time ever, I don't care. That's not true; I do care, I just don't think any good is going to come from these mid term elections. Republicans are playing up the fear angle. Are Democrats even really saying anything? Who can hear them?

If Democrats manage to keep control, will there just be more of the past two years? Don't get me wrong, Obama & Co got stuck with a load of crap and I didn't expect them to fix it all in two years but I think they may have focused on the wrong things. Healthcare for all is great but maybe economic/jobs/recovery should have been the first priority and then healthcare. This may be the greatest healthcare reform ever but without a job it doesn't really mean jack shit to me. Democrats need to refocus.

If the Republicans take control as is expected? Well we might as well all take a nice, long nap because nothing will get done in Washington at all. Who was it? Boehner? Who said the main goal is to make Obama a one term president? What the hell is that? You have Americans struggling with so many issues and you are going to focus on Obama not getting a second term? Are you fucking nuts? Don't play games with our lives. Do what you are elected to do! And that is not determining the length of Obama's presidency.

I wonder if politicians even remember what it is they are supposed to be doing.

I don't even want to vote today.

LOVE this.

I will admit I did NOT vote Tuesday. Am I ashamed? Sort of. But, I have my reasons for not voting. Very similar to what you've written here.

I felt the same way on election day. Everyone is more concerned with each other than with US the people. People like YOU who need REAL help and REAL change.
